I'm alive, but tell me am I free?
I've got eyes, but tell me can I see?
The weather had been annoyingly gloomy in Elsewhere lately. Rain, storm, clouds, was the sky trying to tell them something? To spite it, Hailey had been unusually happy lately. Sure, the teen was usually bubbly and bright, but over the past few days, she had been more so. She loved her job at Starbucks, and had recently managed to make a Peppermint Chocolate Chip Mocha drink. But what she would like was love.
She'd woken up that morning, Wednesday and one of her days off, and decided that she wanted to go to the beach. Upon opening her delicate flower curtains, she had seen grey, and decided to defy the weather. And it was impressive how, as she drove west, the sky got less and less grey, letting the sun shine through to make her day much happier and more pleasurable. A few miles off on her adventure, Hailey had even put down the roof of her shiny blue convertible, letting the breeze stream her hair out behind her and watching the road from behind dark pink tinted sunglasses. She was now glad that she had worn a white string bikini under her shirt and cut-off jeans; she would definitely be able to catch some rays of sun today.
Hailey arrived at the small parking lot and parked, a little disappointed to see no other cars parked around. The sand was warm and cushy under her sandaled feet, and she was already feeling overheated. She spread out her striped towel on the sand and stripped down to her bikini, laying down on her stomach and pulling the book she had brought with her out of her basket. As she opened it, she couldn't help feeling a wave of disappointment that there were no cute guys around- or guys whatsoever. She had fourteen years left in Elsewhere and she wanted to get married, to fall in love. It wasn't fair that her opportunity at a content life had been taken away, but she had hoped that karma would at least give her a second chance.
"Life sucks," she muttered to herself, looking down at the words printed neatly on the page in front of her. Ironically, Hailey could remember the first time she had heard the phrase- her friend had said 'Life sucks and then you die.' Well, she had died, now what? She hurriedly shook her head, her honey-brown hair flying around her head in tendrils, trying to clear herself of the pessimistic thoughts.

The sky is falling and no one knows,
It shouldn't be hard to believe...
